In honour of the birth of Florence Nightingale, we celebrated International Nurses Day on Friday, 12 May. This day was declared Nurses Day in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses to honour and give recognition to all those in the profession.
This year, the theme was ‘Our Nurses. Our Future’ and it highlights the importance of nursing in providing health care and protecting our future. At WCBS, our nurses are responsible for assessing the blood donor’s health before a donation can occur, ensuring a high level of safety for both, the donor and the future recipient.
We would like to thank all nurses for the compassion and kindness shown to our blood donors and the Western Cape patients. Your hard work and dedication is appreciated.
