Slipper Day is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Reach for a Dream Foundation to support children facing life-threatening illnesses. All funds raised go towards fulfilling the dreams of little children. They do this by granting children magical moments, like taking them for a swim with dolphins or getting them the doll house they’ve always dreamed of.
As an organisation, we joined the fun and celebrated Slipper Day on Friday, 5 May 2023. To partake in this initiative, staff had to buy a Slipper Day sticker for R20 and wear their slippers on the day. Our staff showed full support and wore all kinds, from the lazy slip-on to the easiest, silliest stuffed slippers.
This year, the foundation aimed to raise R10 million with the hopes of helping 2 000 children with life-threatening illnesses experience moments of joy. As an organisation, and with the support and generosity of our staff, we contributed R3010 in total towards their goal.
Many recipients of blood and blood products are children, and it was, therefore, a privilege to wear our slippers and participate in this initiative. To read more about this cause or to raise awareness, click on this link.
