The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) painted the town red on Saturday, 30 November 2024 by hosting the ‘Red Saturday — 1 Day, 1 Nation, 5000 Units of Blood’ big bleed at 12 participating shopping malls, namely Long Beach Mall, Blue Route Mall, Kenilworth Centre, Vangate Mall, N1 City Mall, Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, Capegate Shopping Centre, Liberty Promenade, Table Bay Mall, Somerset Mall, Whale Coast Mall and Langeberg Mall.
If you happened to tune into the KFM airwaves on the day, seen our street posters, received a SMS reminder, visited our website, or received word via social media, did you catch the Red Saturday vibe and donate blood? A total of 6,817 units of blood were collected nationwide, making Red Saturday a huge success, and all donors received a nifty shopper bag to commemorate the occasion. The collected blood came at just the right time to ensure that blood stocks were maintained over the festive season for patients throughout the country.
