Peer Promoters geared up to make a difference at their schools. On 19 October 2023, we welcomed learners from schools around Cape Town to our new premises in N’dabeni to take part in a fun afternoon at our Peer Promoter training session.
A Peer Promoter acts as a blood donor ambassador at schools where we host blood donation clinics and through peer education, they help us ensure successful blood donation clinics at their schools.
The afternoon started with much excitement as all the learners received delicious snack packs and sandwiches and had a chance to strut their stuff on the 360˚ photo booth. This was followed by an interactive information session where the new peer promoters found out what their role would entail and came up with some exciting ways to promote the blood donation clinic at their schools. There was plenty of discussion and it was a great opportunity to share ideas and meet learners from other schools. They also helped our PR team with some vital information regarding social media and youth campaigns.
As a fun addition to the afternoon, we gave away some cool prizes for the longest socks, the shortest tie and the most badges on a blazer.
By the end of the day, the new peer promoters left with big smiles, cupcake in hand, feeling inspired to make a difference and get started promoting the upcoming blood donation clinics for 2024.
