Every year we all face various challenges, but not all are unpleasant. At the beginning of the year, we were super excited to launch our new youth campaign, the Super 9 Club, for all our high school learners.

The campaign encourages youth donors to make nine donations by their 19th birthday. This is a target that many youth donors can achieve within three years of their high school career. This campaign has replaced the old Club 25 campaign, where we asked youth donors to donate 25 units before or on their 25th birthday, which proved difficult for many donors as it would take several years to achieve. So, we made it easier this time around.

As an incentive to be part of the Super 9 Club, we will give those who reach this milestone a limited-edition shirt, and although this is still a challenge, we know the youth can do it.

There are already four learners in the Western Cape who have reached this milestone. Congratulations to our first Super 9 Club members; they are:
• Hele Husselmann from Paarl Girls High,
• Matthew Downes from Wynberg Boys High,
• Celeste Jordaan from Punt Hoërskool and,
• Zonika Van Zyl from Stellenbosch High.

By encouraging the youth to donate blood, we cultivate a culture of life-savers from a young age. These four inspiring youth donors have collectively saved up to 108 lives and will hopefully be the first of many Super 9 Club members. Here’s to many more that will rise to the challenge!
