What We Do
The Western Cape Blood Service is a non-profit, independent organisation serving people right across the Western Cape — from Cape Town all the way to George. Our purpose is simple but profound: to provide safe blood and blood products to every community that needs them. We work without prejudice and with the goal of delivering a world‑class blood service for the region.
We Put Safety First
The wellbeing of our donors and recipients is always our first priority. We rely on the latest technology, world‑leading research, and strict quality procedures to ensure complete safety at every step. Each year we collect over 150,000 units of safe blood — helping transform or save the lives of more than 455,000 people.
We Do It By The Book
To uphold the highest standards, we follow strict international guidelines set out by the World Health Organisation. We also comply fully with the National Health Act, and we’re accredited by SANAS (the South African National Accreditation System). Everything we do is built on quality, safety, and accountability.
Join Us
We host regular blood donation clinics and mobile drives across the province, and we’d love to welcome you — whether you’re considering your first donation or returning as a regular donor. We operate with professionalism, transparency, and a deep commitment to serving our communities.
