On Sunday, 9 March, our remarkable team, made up of dedicated staff and donors, joined over 30 000 other cyclists in the 109km and 42km races at the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour. It was an exciting opportunity to raise awareness for our life-saving cause while participating in one of the world’s largest timed cycling events.
The day was filled with energy, determination, and a true sense of community. Many of our staff members also volunteered their time to cheer on the cyclists and provide much-needed refreshments, ensuring participants stayed fuelled and motivated throughout the event.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is not just an athletic challenge – it is a powerful platform for positive change. The event’s success enables the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust to support two key beneficiaries: the Pedal Power Association and the Rotary Club of Claremont. These organisations use the surplus funds generated from the race to support social upliftment projects, promote cycling development, and implement essential safe cycling initiatives.
To date, over R130 million has been distributed to charities through the Cape Town Cycle Tour, making a lasting, positive impact on both local communities and the broader cycling landscape in South Africa.
We are incredibly proud to be part of this event and to contribute to such meaningful causes, all while advancing our mission to save lives through blood donation.
A huge well done to all our staff and donors for taking up this challenge and to our fresh faces in the cycling community – Jerome Du Plooy and Kealan Jacobs .
