As a regular blood donor, you already know the life-changing power of every donation. But have you ever considered the impact of those who can’t donate blood? While some people face barriers like medical conditions or lifestyle factors, that doesn’t stop them from being incredible champions for the cause. In fact, their contributions can be just as heroic and inspiring.

Adri Brits is an example of this heroic act. Adri is the donor representative at the Tygerberg Medical School blood donation clinic. While she isn’t able to donate herself, her tireless work with the Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) has left a profound mark on the campus community.

Adri has done more than just organise blood drives. She’s built meaningful connections that last, with the head of student council as well as 2nd and 3rd year students, turning blood donation into a movement. Thanks to her efforts, blood donation has become part of campus life, celebrated at social events and wellness days.

Adri’s story doesn’t end there. After being diagnosed with a brain tumour and undergoing urgent surgery, many might have stepped back to recover, but not Adri. She came back stronger, more determined, and more inspiring than ever. Despite her own challenges, Adri continues to champion blood donation with resilience, positivity, and a smile that lights up every room she enters.
