The Western Cape Blood Service is excited to announce that an improved version of the WCBS app has been released on Android and iOS. The enhanced functionality includes:
- Finding your closest blood donation clinic
- Easy access to blood donation clinics, by viewing the GPS coordinates
- Setting reminders on your calendar for your next blood donation clinic
- Digital donor card
- Blood Stock Levels
- Access to all of our social media platforms
Potential donors also have the option to create a profile. Once potential donors create a profile a WCBS staff member will be in touch to find out where you would like to donate your first unit of life-saving blood.
“We encourage everyone to download the WCBS app and enjoy blood donation simplified. It’s really as easy as Download, Donate, Do Good. We are experiencing a critical shortage in blood, especially in O and B blood groups. Currently we have a 2-day blood stock level and urge all eligible donors to please donate blood. With the WCBS app you would be able to find a blood donation close to you”, says Marike Gevers, Public Relations Manager at WCBS.
