The Western Cape Blood Service’s customers in the private sector will experience a price reduction for all platelet products, effective 1 January 2026.
The price reduction varies from 2.00% to 8.01% as tabulated below.
A brief comparison of the various platelet products is as follows:
Designated platelet products will incur a donation procedure surcharge of R 465.93 for the private sector (2026 price), and R 317.18 for the state sector (2025 price).
