On Friday, 28 February, we hosted our third CANSA Shavathon, and once again, our team showed up in full support, ready to spray or shave their hair for a great cause. This year, 35 staff took part, raising a total of R1,750 to support those affected by Cancer.

CANSA Shavathon - Valerie

“This cause is so dear to my heart; my daughter has been diagnosed with liver cancer and this was so special because it is my way of showing my support.” Valerie Oosthuizen, Payroll Manager at Western Cape Blood Service.

Each year, the CANSA Shavathon raises vital funds to provide care and support for those affected by cancer. As a blood service, many blood recipients are cancer patients, and it is an honour for WCBS to participate in such a meaningful initiative.

The success of our third Shavathon is an indication to the growing tradition of giving at WCBS, and we are excited to continue supporting this cause in the years to come. As a quote from a cancer survivour beautifully states, “Cancer may have started the fight, but I will finish it.”
