Meet Kevin, our Client Services Manager, who enjoys the great outdoors, has a deep passion for all things IT, and is wholeheartedly committed to making a difference. But there’s something even more remarkable about Kevin: his heart to saving lives through platelet donation.
Kevin’s journey with blood donation began in high school, but it wasn’t until he joined the WCBS team in 1993 that he became interested in becoming a donor. Since then, he has donated over 45 units of blood, touching the lives of countless patients in need. In 2024, he took his commitment to the next level by donating platelets for the first time, inspired by colleagues who shared how one donation can profoundly impact a cancer patient’s fight for life.
Kevin doesn’t just stop at donating; he encourages his team to get involved too. He believes that giving back creates a stronger bond within the workplace and adds meaning to our daily lives. “In my first career, I worked in emergency services, and it was there that I saw first-hand the immense need for blood and how it impacts those who require it the most,” Kevin expressed. “It’s something that can’t be manufactured, and the difference you can make by donating is truly remarkable.”
For Kevin, blood donation is more than just a good cause – it’s personal. He lost both his mother and father to cancer, and donating platelets is his way of honouring them. His parents needed blood and platelets during their battles, and Kevin witnessed the life-saving power of donations first-hand. Now, he encourages everyone who is able to donate, because none of us know when we might find ourselves in need.
Blood donation is simple, yet its impact is profound. It’s a powerful way to make a difference. Whether you donate blood or platelets, your generosity could save lives.
So, if you’re able, we encourage you to follow Kevin’s example. Donate today and do something remarkable.
