Meet Andreas Theron, a dedicated whole blood and plasma donor. Originally from Gauteng, he now resides in Cape Town. On 12 September 2024, Andreas celebrated his 64th birthday in a truly remarkable way: by donating plasma to help save countless lives. Plasma, the golden-like component in blood, is used to assist patients affected by trauma, burns, and bleeding disorders. On his special day, he also reached a remarkable milestone: his 150th milestone donation, which includes both whole blood and plasma donation.

Andreas’ commitment to blood donation is unwavering. “I will give blood until the day I die,” he says with heartfelt conviction. His journey began, inspired by the Christian Association Bikers group in Gauteng. Driven by a passion for helping others and a love for missionary work, Andreas quickly became a loyal blood donor.

Although his path has not always been straightforward, his work at Sabi Sabi Game Reserve was interrupted when he contracted malaria, which paused his donations for six years. Yet, Andreas’s resolve never wavered. After his waiting period, he returned and now donates plasma with renewed determination.

Today, Andreas continues to visit N1 City Blood Donation Centre, making a remarkable difference in the lives of patients who need it most. His persistence and dedication to saving lives remain as strong as ever.

Andreas Theron’s story demonstrates the power of compassion and resilience. His 150th milestone donation not only marks a personal achievement but also reflects a lifetime of giving and generosity.
