Regardless of their backgrounds, or professions, our generous blood donors all share a common goal: to save lives. Despite juggling demanding careers and personal commitments, they still find the time to donate blood, making a profound difference in the lives of those in need.

Zaakirah Khalfe

Zaakirah Khalfe – The Creative Marketing Specialist

Zaakirah, a dedicated blood donor, began her journey of giving at just 16 years old while still in high school. Now at 33, she continues to understand the critical importance of blood donation and its life-saving impact. As a full-time marketing specialist, Zaakirah manages a hectic schedule filled with client meetings, project deadlines, and continuous strategic planning. Despite these commitments, she prioritises her blood donation appointments with unwavering dedication. When she receives her clinic SMS reminders, Zaakirah promptly books her donation dates in her calendar, ensuring she never misses the opportunity to contribute. For her, these appointments are non-negotiable, reflecting her deep commitment to saving lives.

Andrea Mlambo

Andrea Mlambo – The Fully Remote Media Planner

Andrea’s philosophy is giving back and she does it best by donating blood and saving the many lives in need. Her mother influenced her in donating blood at a young age. Even though she works fully remote, her calendar is always jampacked with meetings, media events and travel around the country, which could make it hard for her to do the things that matter the most. However, she ensures that she makes time to donate, as it’s not a chore for her but a crucial act of kindness that needs to be done.

Wilhelm Wessel

Wilhelm Wessel – The Geotechnical Engineer

Wilhelm, a Geotechnical Engineer specialising in consulting and construction, has always felt that donating blood is the least he could do to give back to the world. Inspired by his father, who was a regular donor, Wilhelm started donating blood as soon as he was old enough. As a busy professional, he initially struggled to find the time to visit external clinics and often forgot to go. However, the convenience of having a clinic right at his office has made a significant difference. Even with having a clinic at his doorstep, he still needs to ensure that he blocks out time from his calendar to donate blood. Now, taking a break from his demanding work to donate blood is just as refreshing as stepping outside for a bit, making it much easier for him to contribute regularly despite his busy schedule.

There is always a way to make time for blood donation. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

  • Schedule in Advance: Plan your donation appointments ahead of time. Block time out in your calendar as soon as you receive your SMS reminder. You can also do this by adding a calendar event in your diary via our website. Visit our Where Can I Donate page.
