WCBS Encouraged by Groote Schuur Nursing Training
We would like to thank the Groote Schuur Hospital cardiothoracic theatre nursing staff, who requested in-service training about the practicalities of administering blood products on 15th May. There was an impressive turnout of almost 40 nurses, who engaged actively in the training.
The in-service training was conducted by Dr Caroline Hilton, Lead Medical Consultant and included information about the risks of transfusions, how to safely transfuse blood products and other practical tips.
We hope that these nurses were empowered by the knowledge sharing for continued best transfusion practice for patients.
