The 2023 Cape Town Cycle Tour took place on Sunday, 12 March, and we were fortunate to bring the gees. This year, we had the privilege of cheering for the 109km race champions and welcoming new enthusiast cyclists doing the 42km race.
We had 4 staff members and 6 blood donors who geared up and took up the challenge to cycle either the 42km or 109km races. Although most of them were top-notch fit and ready to tackle the 109km race, 2 were upcoming cyclists and were grateful to be granted the opportunity to cycle the shorter route of 42km. Thank you to all the cyclists in our team for waving our flag high and doing it in the name of blood donation.
Apart from the cyclists, our team of staff members brought the gees to the refreshment station, cheering for the cycling team. These volunteers are passionate about blood donation. Staff travelled from far to join in on the fun and got up before dawn to be ready to wave, cheer and encourage all riders as they passed by. We know that many of our blood donors are cyclists, and this is an opportunity to show our gratitude and support. If you missed out on the fun, click here to watch the video.
If you had to take it easy and withhold your blood donation while getting ready for the cycle tour, we look forward to welcoming you back at our blood donation clinics, now that it is over. You can click here to find your nearest blood donation clinic.
