The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is appealing to all eligible donors to donate blood this Festive Season. As we approach the end of 2021 and gearing up for 2022, we would like to remind all our donors in ‘Do-vember’ to make blood donation a part of their to-do list.
“Blood stocks tend to decline during the Festive Season as the usage of blood increase and we would therefore like to ask our blood donors to donate blood to ensure an adequate blood stock level”, says Marike Gevers, Public Relations Manager at WCBS.
When you donate blood in ‘Do-vember’, you will get a free 2022 desk calendar to remind you of how remarkable you are and the impact the number 3 can have on our lives. We are currently running a social media competition, where you can spot the missing days on the WCBS calendar. We would like to ask you to indicate these missing days and mark them for blood donation, take a picture of the calendar and post and tag @thewcbs to stand a chance to win a prize.
If you are between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh 50kg or more, are in good general health, lead a safe sexual lifestyle, you should be able to donate. “It only takes 30 minutes of your time and you can save up to 3 lives with 1 donation”, Gevers added. To find your closest blood donation clinic, please download the WCBS app on Android and iOS, send us a WhatsApp on 060 549 7244 or go to our Where Can I Donate page for more information. Do something remarkable, donate blood.
