The availability of platelet products at the Blood Bank is expected to improve with the extension of platelet product expiry times, in accordance with international best practice. The number of days that platelet products is stored remains unchanged at five days, but the expiry time is extended to 23:59 on Day 5 regardless of when the product was bled.
